WDN15: Shane McMahon Returns And Stuff

I don’t know why I don’t post the podcast the myself and my wife do, Wrestling Date Night, here on my blog. I’ll start now.

We discussed Fast Lane, the recent return of Shane McMahon to WWE, and we speculate on whether or not Roman Reigns legitimately bled on Raw.

Back again for the sophomore attempt, Sgt. Damage and Mitch Nickelson condense a massive amount of UFC and WWE conversation into one hour.

In the UFC world, Fight Night in Boston happened this past weekend and was headlined by Conor McGregor and Dennis Sivor. Mitch and Sarge discuss his victory and the post-fight antics with Jose Aldo. The two also look ahead toward the Fox event this Thursday that will be headlined by Gustafsson vs. Johnson.

On the WWE side of things, Monday’s Raw saw the first ever appearance from Sting on that show as the company headed toward its annual Royal Rumble event. Picks were made for that pay-per-view.

Mitch Nickelson Radio #8: Final Episode?! (No!)

Welcome to the brand new episode of Mitch Nickelson Radio, your weekly fix of the pursuit of the various niche promotions and brands in professional wrestling. This week’s episode features a long discussion between myself and my good friend, Sgt. Damage. Do you like Sgt. Damage? Good, because he’s joining me full-time as this podcast goes LIVE starting next week! I’m super excited about it. If you can’t listen live don’t worry, I’ll still post up streaming options for anyone that wants to listen on-demand.

Here’s the preview for this week…

Sgt. Damage, who will be joining Mitch as permanent co-host of this podcast, has a lengthy discussion about various topics in the fight world. UFC 182 came and went as Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier in the main event of that night. BUT, not without controversy. Sarge and Mitch talk about the controversy over the trace amounts of cocaine found in Jones’ system prior to that bout.

Mitch recaps the fantastic NJPW/GFW Wrestle Kingdom 9 event from this past weekend and how stellar it was. The two finish the podcast talking about recent happenings in WWE as well as ten wrestlers best suited to win the Royal Rumble.

Like mentioned, this podcast will slightly change next week. It’s not ending but will be streaming LIVE from Blog Talk Radio next Wednesday night. The anticipated time is 10:00pm EST, but follow Mitch’s Twitter feed to stay up to date.

Mitch Nickelson Radio #7: Scott Steiner vs. DDP Commentary (from WCW Greed)

Welcome to the brand new episode of Mitch Nickelson Radio, your weekly fix of the pursuit of the various niche promotions and brands in professional wrestling. This week’s episode features an alternate audio experience for a match many wrestling fans may have never seen before. (I hadn’t.) The match is from WCW Greed and challenger DDP faces off against WCW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner.

This turned out to be the final World title match to occur at a WCW Pay-Per-View and it wasn’t too bad! The Wrestling Observer rated the match at 3.5 stars out of 5, which seemed about right. Another interesting tidbit about the match is that Scott Steiner gets highly physical with a fan mid-way through the bout. While obviously a plant the individual bore a striking resemblance to Paul London. So I did what any fan of the modern era would do and I took my question directly to him…

While Paul doesn’t reply to my question he does favorite it. I’ll take that as an admission that that was him.

Here’s the preview for this week…

Al N Jaxson joins Mitch this week as the two of them discuss and opine over the main event of the last WCW Pay-Per-View ever, Greed. The duo even stumble into something resembling commentary near the end. This is a fun alternate audio experience to accompany the viewing of the match.

Time cues are given during the podcast to sync up the audio and the match can easily be found on the WWE Network. Enjoy!

Mitch Nickelson Radio #6: Rory Fox

Welcome to the brand new episode of Mitch Nickelson Radio, your weekly fix of the pursuit of the various niche promotions and brands in professional wrestling. This week’s episode features an interview with a guy that has had the chance to do some pretty cool things in the wrestling business, Rory Fox. I best remember him from an appearance on an MTV documentary a few years back. Others may have heard him on Chris Jericho’s podcast. Regardless, he helped make this one of the best episodes of MNR to date.

Here’s the preview for this week…

Rory Fox joins the program this week as he talks about his recent appearance on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast (episode #94), his work in 3XW, and his take on current happenings in WWE.

Later in the show, Sgt. Damage and Al Jaxson join Mitch in a panel discussion. The three discuss the best match of 2014, the best superstar of the year, and even offer up predictions for 2015.

Mitch Nickelson Radio #5: ROH’s Caprice Coleman; Cracked’s Jason Iannone

Welcome to the brand new episode of Mitch Nickelson Radio, your weekly fix of the pursuit of the various niche promotions and brands in sports entertainment. This week’s episode features an interview with one of the best wrestlers on today’s indie scene, Caprice Coleman. He just competed in ROH’s Final Battle Pay-Per-View just over a week ago and I get the chance to chat with him for this week’s episode.

Here’s the preview for this week…

Ring of Honor superstar Caprice Coleman joins the podcast this week to discuss his recent match at Final Battle, his new entrance music with Omega Sparx, and a new comic book (The Anointed One) that is based on him that will be coming out in 2015.

For the second half of the podcast Cracked.com’s Jason Iannone chats about the past week of WWE programming, including TLC and NXT’s R Evolution. Apologies to him for mispronouncing his name in the intro; he still had plenty of great things to say regardless.

Mitch Nickelson Radio #4: Sgt Damage Talks UFC 181 and CM Punk’s Signing

Welcome to the brand new episode of Mitch Nickelson Radio, your 30-ish minute fix of the pursuit of the various niche promotions and brands in sports entertainment. Before I preview this week’s show, I want to go ahead and announce that next week Ring of Honor’s Caprice Coleman will be on the show. He just competed in ROH’s Final Battle Pay-Per-View this past Sunday and I get the chance to chat with him on next week’s episode. Don’t forgot to subscribe on iTunes so you don’t miss that one!

Here’s the preview for this week…

Sgt. Damage returns to the podcast to talk about UFC and he couldn’t have picked a better week to do so. With a big UFC 181 event happening this past weekend and the HUGE news of CM Punk signing with Dana White’s company, there was no shortage of topics to discuss.

Afterward, Mitch is joined by the extremely hot Rosie Piper as she helps him make picks for this Sunday’s WWE TLC event. Tables, Ladders, Chairs, and Stairs are expected, but not always all at the same time. Did I mention that Rosie is a smoking hot babe?

Mitch Nickelson Radio #3: Brandon Lasher, NXT, and CM Punk Discussions

Welcome to the brand new episode of Mitch Nickelson Radio, your 30-ish minute fix of the pursuit of the various niche promotions and brands in sports entertainment. Here’s the preview for this week…

TJRWrestling.com‘s Brandon Lasher joins Mitch as the two discuss NXT and the brand’s upcoming event, Takeover: R Evolution. Brandon talks about who he thinks should win in the announced matches and who he thinks is next to jump to the main roster of WWE.

For the panel discussion part of the podcast, Al N Jaxson and Sgt. Damage join the show to ponder if the current roster in WWE lacks ambition. The three also suggest possible pairings of singles into makeshift tag teams like what happened with Tyson Kidd and Cesaro from Raw.

CM Punk is also mentioned, on a couple of occasions.
